PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota State Flag commemorative stamp will be introduced Thursday at the state Capitol.
The new stamp is part of the fifth multi-stamp series honoring state and territorial flags along with the flags of Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee and the commonwealths of Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands.
The 10 stamp designs will be made available beginning Aug. 11 on 50-stamp coils at post offices and at usps.com.
South Dakota Secretary of Tourism Jim Hagen and Pierre Postmaster Tom Bishop will be on hand for the 9 a.m. ceremony.
Artist Tom Engeman, a resident of Bethany Beach, Del., created the flag portraits and views on the stamps.
