Storm Damage



     HURON, S.D. (AP) - Some damage is being reported from a line of
storms that rolled through central South Dakota Thursday night.
     Severe thunderstorm winds of 70 miles per hour knocked out power
to the town of Wessington.
     Gusty winds tore a piece of a roof off a manufacturing building
and sent the metal roofing into power lines, causing a citywide
blackout. The storm also knocked down some power lines in rural
areas and damaged a number of trees.
     High winds of more than 60 mph, heavy rains and pea- to marble-
sized hail in the Eagle Butte and Onida areas.
     Hughes and Stanley County Emergency Management Director Rob
Fines says there are also reports of of overturned sheds and
trailers in the Murdo and Lyman areas.
