Coal Canyon Fire Grows

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A forest fire in southwestern South
Dakota that killed one firefighter and injured four more has grown
to more than 5,100 acres, but crews say they made progress Sunday
extending and strengthening containment lines.
More than 450 people are battling the Coal Canyon Fire, which
officials said was about 30 percent contained Sunday night.
No buildings have been threatened and no roads have been closed
or people evacuated. But last Thursday, 23-year-old firefighter
Trampus Haskvitz of Hot Springs died while battling the fire. His
funeral is Tuesday in Hot Springs.
