SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota man who authorities say
beat another man to death at a party in Sioux Falls and then tried
to burn the body in a vehicle has been sentenced to serve 25 years
in prison.
Thirty-two-year-old Curtis Weddell pleaded guilty last spring to
manslaughter, arson and theft charges in the death a year ago of
28-year-old Rafael Morales.
Weddell said Morales tried to sexually assault Weddell's
girlfriend. Defense attorneys said Morales' blood alcohol level at
the time of his death was more than seven times the legal limit for
driving.
