River Evacuees May Soon Go Home

DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. (AP) - Officials say people who evacuated
from a South Dakota city in May should be able to return to their
homes as early as next month.
Many homeowners in Dakota Dunes have returned to assess the
damage from Missouri River flooding, but the security checkpoints
have remained in place.
Jeff Dooley, manager of the Dakota Dunes Community Improvement
District says the river will likely have receded enough by late September.
The Army Corps of Engineers plans to begin drawing dawn releases
from the dam system this week.
