PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics says
South Dakota's preliminary unemployment rate for July was unchanged
from the previous month at 4.7 percent.
State Labor and Regulation Secretary Pam Roberts says that the
state's labor force increased by 3,500 people over the year. She
says South Dakota has had several months of over-the-year
employment growth, and she expects that to continue.
Nationally, unemployment dropped from 9.2 percent in June to 9.1
percent in July.
