RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Former Rep. Gordon Pederson, who served
Wall for 30 years, has died. He was 84.
Betty Pederson told The Associated Press that her husband of
more than 55 years died Saturday morning at a Sioux Falls hospital.
She says he had suffered heart problems.
Pederson was in the House in 1977-1998 and 2001-2008.
His 30 years in the South Dakota House ties him with four
others as one of the longest-serving members in the Legislature's
history.
Pederson was a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Army who served in
World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired as a
lieutenant colonel in 1970.
Funeral services are set for Thursday at 10 a.m. at the high
school in Wall.
