RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Federal fire management officials say a
blaze in the Black Hills National Forest in southwest South Dakota
is 75 percent contained.
The Sheep Wagon Fire sparked by lightning west of Custer burned
about 127 acres, less than a square mile.
Many of the firefighters who fought the fire have been released
from duty.
Crews have fully contained the 123-acre Gillespie Fire by
Angostura Reservoir near Hot Springs. They continue mop-up work on
the Coal Canyon Fire near Edgemont, which killed one firefighter
and injured several others earlier this month.
