RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota woman accused of using a
knife and a machete to try to rob two Rapid City casinos in four
days has pleaded not guilty.
Authorities allege that 26-year-old Julia Peters robbed the
Market Square Casino on July 3 and made an unsuccessful attempt at
a Happy Jacks casino three days later.
Defense Attorney Jeremiah Davis on Monday asked for Peters' bond
to be reduced from $50,000 to $10,000 but Judge Mary Thorstenson
refused.
Peters could face nearly 60 years in prison if convicted.
