No-Wake Zone Rescinded at Poinsett

8/31/11

The No-Wake Zone on Lake Poinsett is no longer in effect.  It was rescinded by
Governor Dennis Daugaard as noon Tuesday.

The threat of shoreline deterioration and damage to private property from high
water levels that have persisted on Lake Poinsett over the course of the last two
years is less of a concern as water levels recede.

Even though the No-Wake Zone has been lifted, Game, Fish and Parks
Department officials are asking boaters to remain cautious because higher than
normal water levels and floating debris may persist on Lake Poinsett and many
other lakes across the state.
