INTERIOR, S.D. (AP) - A 51-year-old South Dakota woman died
after she was thrown from the vehicle she was riding in Friday
night.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the vehicle, driven by
64-year-old Charles Chipps of Wanblee, failed to stop for a traffic
violation while traveling east on Highway 44 near Interior. Chipps
then failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle rolled several
times, ejecting Jaylene Quick Bear, of Wanblee, who died.
Chipps was trapped in the vehicle and needed to be extricated.
He was later taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital with
life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending against him.
Quick Bear and Chipps were not wearing seatbelts.
