Committee Working to Redraw South Dakota districts

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The committee working to redraw the
boundaries of South Dakota's legislative districts will meet this
week to discuss how to create new districts in areas with
substantial populations of Native Americans.
The Legislative Redistricting Committee also will consider
proposals to redraw districts in the Sioux Falls area when it meets
Tuesday in Pierre. The panel will hear public testimony during the
meeting.
The committee tentatively plans to meet again in late September
to make its final recommendations for redrawing the districts. A
special session of the Legislature will be held Oct. 24 to approve
new district boundaries.
