A court appearance this morning for the man charged in a September 3rd kidnapping in Elkton.
Pedro Ramiro Enriquez-Castillo, age 26, ischarged with kidnapping, reckless driving, no insurance
and no valid drivers license. Through an interpreter and his court-appointed attorney,
Enriquez-Castillo requested a preliminary hearing. That is set for September 19th.
Brookings County Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says an Elkton woman was in her vehicle when
another car forced her to the side of the road. A man got out, opened her carand took her 3-month
old child. The suspect then fled to a nearby apartment building. He returned withthe child about
15-minutes later and said he thought the child was his nephew.
The child was not injured.
There is also an immigration hold on Enriquez-Castillo. He's being held at the Brookings County
Jail. His bond is set at $50,000.
