Two Watertown residents are dead after a fatal crash five miles north
of that city.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 80-year-old Verlyn and
78-year-old Mabel Gibson were killed in a Wednesday afternoon
collision with a semi pulling two trailers.
Verlyn Gibson was driving a northbound pickup and turned in front of
the semi. After the collision, both vehicles ended up in the ditch.
The driver of the semi, 51-year-old Paul Bertsch of Lake Preston,
was not hurt.
The Gibsons died at the scene.
