A Brookings man is injured in an ATV accident. According to Police
Lieutenant Derrick Powers, it happened at about 2:50 Friday morning
at the intersection of 9th St. South and 7th Avenue.
Powers says the driver, 22-year-old Michael Stapleton of Brookings,
was riding the four-wheeler at a high rate of speed and lost control
while attempting to make the corner and rolled the ATV.
Stapleton was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital. After
being treated, he was placed under arrest and charged with driving
under the influence and careless driving.
