SD Woman Sentenced to 65 Years in Husband's Death

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A 28-year-old New Underwood woman was
sentenced Monday to 65 years in prison in the shooting death of her
husband in their home last November.
Amanda Kaur received credit for the 265 days she has spent in jail
and will be eligible for parole after 32.5 years.
Kaur was initially charged with murder but pleaded guilty to
first-degree manslaughter in June.
She told the judge that Ira Kaur had attempted suicide in their
home and a gun went off as they struggled. She said she left with
her two children, came back to find her husband wounded and fired a
fatal shot.
