Gas Line Rupture in Brandon Causes Evacuations

BRANDON, S.D. (AP) - A ruptured natural gas line prompted the
evacuation of some apartment building residents in the southeast
South Dakota city of Brandon.
Fire Chief Robert Dykstra says that a street construction worker hit the
line with a backhoe about mid-day Monday. About a dozen tenants
from the nearby building were evacuated for about two hours as a
precaution while the leak was fixed.
     No injuries were reported.
