YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - Two school districts in South Dakota that
voted to merge together now find themselves without a
superintendent.
Patrick Kraning is resigning as the superintendent of both the
Viborg and Hurley school districts. The two schools voted last week
to consolidate.
Kraning's resignation is effective at the end of the month. The
consolidation of the two schools takes effect July 1, 2012.
Kraning said he resigned to complete his advanced education
specialist's degree.
He has served as Viborg superintendent for 13 years. He added
the Hurley position during the last two years.
Officials with the Viborg and Hurley school districts say they
will launch a search for a new superintendent.
