Huron Gets Drug Dog Program

HURON, S.D. (AP) - The Huron City Commission has approved a drug
dog program.
The dog will work city streets and also the halls of the local
high school. City Commissioner Kerwin Haeder says the number of
drug crimes is on the rise and needs to be addressed.
It will cost about $10,400 to start up
the program and about $5,200 to fund it the first year. The city
will pay the cost out of its budget, but Police Chief Gary Will
says other options will be explored, such as applying for grants or
setting up a foundation.
