SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A church fire in Sioux Falls forced the
evacuation of a day care.
Fire officials say workers using heat guns as they prepared to
paint a classroom started the fire on the fourth floor of First
Baptist Church about midday Monday. Damage was limited to the top
floor. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Fire Rescue Division Chief Jeff Helm says no one was hurt.
Church ministry coordinator Scott Aseltine says about 20 children
were in the day care. The church also houses a preschool but
Aseltine says it was between sessions because it was the lunch
hour.
