Sioux Falls Names Interim City Clerk

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The new interim city clerk for South
Dakota's largest city says she isn't looking at the job as a
long-term commitment.
Sue Roust says she expects to work only two or three months,
though she's willing to stay on longer if needed.
The City Council on Monday night approved the hiring of Roust,
who retired earlier this year after being Minnehaha County's
auditor for two decades.
The Sioux Falls Council in mid-September fired veteran clerk
Debra Owen, without publically stating a reason. Owen said she did
nothing to warrant losing her job.
The clerk also serves as the city's chief elections officer.
Roust will guide Sioux Falls through its Nov. 8 special election on
a proposed $115 million events center.
