SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A standoff in Sioux Falls involving law
officers and a man wanted on aggravated kidnapping charges has come
to a peaceful end.
Thirty-five-year-old Charles Ohman walked out of the home and
was taken into custody without incident about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday,
ending the standoff after more than 12 hours. Authorities say
residents of area homes that were evacuated mid-Tuesday afternoon
were allowed back home.
Ohman was on Minnehaha County's Most Wanted Listed for allegedly
assaulting a woman and holding her against her will on Aug. 12.
Police considered him armed and dangerous. He was not carrying a
weapon when he surrendered.
Authorities say Ohman earlier had been using a laundry storage
area as a hiding place.
