SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Delta Airlines is adding a third flight
to Aberdeen for the first part of South Dakota's pheasant hunting
season. Meanwhile, Pierre is fighting Delta's plan to end a flight
from the capital city to Minneapolis next month.
KCCR radio reports that Pierre has hired a Washington, D.C.,
attorney to help with the city's appeal to the federal
Transportation Department. Delta cites lower numbers of passengers
as a reason to end the flight on Nov. 20. The city says the flight
is important to businesses and residents, and state government.
Aberdeen airport manager Mike Wilson tells the American News
Delta is adding a flight there from Oct. 13 through the end of the
month, on every day of the week except Saturday. The pheasant
opener for out-of-state hunters is Oct. 15.
