PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Gov. Dennis Daugaard asks that all flags in
South Dakota be flown at half-staff on Sunday in honor of two
firefighters who died in a recent blaze at the Sunset Hutterite
Colony.
Twenty-two-year-old William Waldner and 20-year-old Jacob
Waldner died Sept. 15 while extinguishing a coal bin fire at the
colony near Britton. Jacob Waldner's father, Jack, was injured. The
firefighters were on top of a building when an explosion blew off
the roof and a wall. The cause wasn't immediately determined.
Sunday is the annual South Dakota Firefighters Association's
Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service in Pierre.
