SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls resident with a history
of challenging City Hall has filed an ethics complaint against the
city and its mayor over presentations about a proposed $115 million
events center.
I.L. Wiedermann says the city violated state law and city
charter by using public money for presentations that favor the
center. City residents will vote Nov. 8 on whether to approve the
project.
State Attorney General Marty Jackley has refused to wade into
the dispute, saying it's a matter for Sioux Falls' city attorney
and ethics board.
City officials have made dozens of presentations and plan dozens more.
Mayor Mike Huether says the public appreciates the dialogue. City
Attorney Dave Pfeifle says he does not think any laws
were broken.
