PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Legislature's
Appropriations Committee is meeting to discuss state government's
financial condition and look at issues that will affect next year's
budget.
At Friday's meeting, the committee's staff will present a report
on how tax collections are going so far in the current budget year.
The panel also will hear updates on a number of state task forces
that are studying Medicaid and other programs.
In addition, officials are also expected to give an update on
how much the state has spent to deal with last summer's flooding
along the Missouri River.
