Council to Talk Liquor Licenses Again

Liquor licenses will again be a topic of the City Council at their next meeting. They'll discuss both the BraVo's license and the $25,000 fee currently charged for standard liquor operating agreements.

They'll debate the fee even though there aren't currently any standard licenses available. Although, what will happen with the BraVo's license is still an open question.

BraVo's was given a standard license in 2008 with the stipulation that they would have to get a restaurant-only license when they became available. BraVo's now wants to keep the standard license.

Restaurant-only licenses cost $100,000. Some on the council believe the standard license should be the same amount.

Mayor Tim Reed says it's nice having money come back to the city from license fees.  However,  Reed says the city also gets the alcohol override on a continuous basis and that brings in a large amount of money for the general fund.

Will anyone be willing to pay $100,000 for a restaurant-only license? Reed believes it will happen.

Whiskey Creek Wood Fire Grill has been offered one of the new restaurant licenses. They wanted a standard license. Reed says they have not yet given a definite answer, but he hopes Whiskey Creek will accept.

The Council's next meeting is October 25.
