Sentencing Delayed in Deadly Cab Dispute

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Sentencing has been delayed for a Sioux
Falls man who strangled another man in an argument over a taxicab
ride, because Lloyd Wilson wants a trial by judge on the allegation
that he's a habitual criminal.
Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Wilson has a 2006 drug
conviction in Florida. That could increase the maximum punishment
on an aggravated assault conviction from 15 years to 25 years. The trial
on the habitual criminal allegation will begin Nov. 28.
Wilson could get life in prison on a manslaughter charge. A jury
in August convicted him in the October 2010 death of 42-year-old
Bret Moe. Wilson was to be sentenced Monday on the anniversary of
the incident that led to Moe's death in a hospital about a month
later.
