A Brookings woman is hurt when she's hit by a car while walking
across Sixth Street.
The police report says it happened about 8:15 Saturday morning
at 6th and 12th Avenue. A car driven by 19-year-old Laura
McMartin of Brookings hit 44-year-old Kelli O'Riley. Police say
O'Riley was crossing with the 'walk' signal. McMartin told police
she was turning onto 6th and there was frost on her side window
and she din't see O'Riley.
O'Riley was hit by the bumper, thrown over the hood and onto
the street. She was taken by ambulance to the Brookings
Hospital with head, back and shoulder pain.
