SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls woman accused of having
too many children in her home day care has been charged with child
neglect after a 4-month-old girl died in her care.
The infant was discovered dead in a crib June 30. Connie Edwards had
about two dozen children in her west Sioux Falls home. She was only
authorized to care for 12 children.
Edwards allegedly was not home when the baby died. Officials say
she had left teenagers in charge of the children, but the teens
were not registered with the city as care providers.
The newspaper reports that Edwards had twice been fined for
having too many kids in her care before the death. Her city license
has been revoked.
