The Canadian Pacific Railroad says it is going to increase the speed
of trains traveling through Brookings County.
The railroad says recent improvements to enhance safety and upgrade
the infrastructure are complete in Brookings County.
Starting November 10, the railroad will increase the maximum speed
from 20 miles an hour to 30 miles an hour for all trains operating on
the mainline track from Western Avenue in Brookings to 463rd Avenue
in Volga. On December 10, the railroad will increase the maximum
speed from 30 miles an hour to 40 miles an hour.
