RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Rapid City is planning to mark the
anniversary of the 1972 flood that killed 238 people by holding a
remembrance ceremony next summer.
The remembrance is set for the weekend of June 9-10 next year.
The 1972 flood was one the deadliest floods in the United States.
It caused $160 million in damages.
The planning committee held their initial meeting for the
anniversary remembrance Monday at City Hall.
Committee members plan to have a theme for the ceremony by Jan.

They say remembering the event is going to be a life-changing
experience.
