CAVOUR, S.D. (AP) - Officials in Beadle County believe arson is
to blame for a wooden bridge burned Sunday that caused at least
$215,000 in damage.
The Cavour Fire Department was dispatched around 7:45 a.m.
Sunday to the burning bridge seven miles north of Cavour.
Firefighters found the fire burning toward the center of
the bridge deck and framework. The bridge had been closed earlier
this year due to ice and flood damage.
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered to anyone who may
have information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the
person responsible. Those with information are asked to contact the
South Dakota Arson Hotline at 1-888-860-2148 or local law
enforcement.
