State Fire Marshal to Retire

South Dakota's fire marshal is retiring after 33 years in state
government.
Sixty-two-year-old Al Christie will step down on Nov. 8. State
Public Safety Secretary Trevor Jones says a search for Christie's
successor already is under way.
Christie began his public service career in the state Division
of Consumer Protection. The Madison native joined the state fire
marshal's staff in 1987 as training director and moved up the
ranks, becoming state fire marshal in 2003.
Christie says it's been a long and rewarding career.
