The Brookings County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of
some 37-thousand dollars worth of electircal cable from a gravel pit on
34th Avenue South.
It was reported on Monday morning and happened sometime over the
weekend at an L-G Everist gravel excavation site. The cable was on
a conveyer belt.
The Sheriff's Office says more than 25-hundred feet of copper electrical
cable had been removed or destroyed. It's assumed the wire was taken
because of the value of the copper.
Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Brookings
County Sheriff's Office or crime stoppers at 692-STOP. Online it's
