PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Stanley County officials are dedicating a Veterans Memorial on Veterans Day.
KCCR radio reports that the memorial is on the courthouse grounds in Fort Pierre. The project took three years to complete.
Other Veterans Day observances were being held Friday across South Dakota. On Thursday, state National Guard commander Timothy Reisch (rysh) spoke at a program at a middle school in Yankton. The Press & Dakotan newspaper reports he told students it's important to remember that the privileges many Americans take for granted are the result of sacrifices made by soldiers.
