Mitchell to Vote on Fate of One-Way Streets

MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — Residents of Mitchell will vote on whether to convert three one-way streets to two-way traffic.

The City Council approved the move but opponents submitted petitions to the city. Finance Officer Marilyn Wilson says the petitions had more than the necessary 471 signatures to force a public vote.

The City Council at its Nov. 22 meeting is expected to set a date for the election. Wilson says the measure likely will go on next year's June 5 ballot. In the meantime, the streets will remain one-ways.
