More Students Taking Advanced Placement Exams

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A new report shows more South Dakota high
school students are taking Advanced Placement exams and earning
college credit.
A report released by the College Board shows that the number of
students in the state taking the exams has risen steadily since
2006. Last year, 2,481 students took at least one AP exam, an
increase of 27 percent in five years' time. The students took a
total of 4,207 AP exams.
Students are scored from 1 to 5 on the exam, and students who
receive a score of 3 or better can receive college credit.
Nearly 68 percent of South Dakota students who took the exam
this year passed. That is 10 percent better than the national
average.
