SD Keeping Eye on Booming ND Job Market

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota's labor secretary says the
demand for workers in North Dakota is keeping officials south of
the state border "on our toes."
High-paying jobs in western North Dakota's booming oil patch are
drawing workers from across the country. Pam Roberts says South Dakota
needs to be vigilant in keeping a stable workforce.
South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry President David
Owen says the movement of workers north is not "a massive
hemorrhage," but it is a concern. He says it has affected western
South Dakota more than the east.
Roberts says jobs in skilled trades are available in South
Dakota, and she sees the demand for workers increasing.
