Laura Bush: 9/11 Changed Country

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Former First Lady Laura Bush says the
greatest honor she had while living in the White House was watching
America face the fear of terrorism head on in the days after the
Sept. 11 terrorist attack.
She says the United States was changed forever after 9/11, but
is proud of how the country came together afterward.
Bush was speaking in front of 1,600 law enforcement officers at
an annual fundraising dinner in Sioux Falls.
She recalled the days immediately after the attack, when her
husband George W. Bush was faced with making tough decisions that
would change the world.
She says it was bittersweet to leave the White House after eight
years and calls her post-First Lady life the "after life."
