Corps Hosts Meeting on Lewis and Clark Lake

     YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is holding
a meeting in Yankton later this month on the Lewis and Clark Lake
Sediment Management Study.
     The Nov. 30 meeting at the Minervas Convention Center will focus
on the study, which looked at whether flows are a viable management
tool for moving sediment past Gavins Point Dam.
     Sediment moved past the dam could be beneficial for fish and
wildlife habitat in the sediment starved reach below the dam.
     The corps estimates that 2,400 acre feet of water storage is
lost each year At Lewis and Clark Lake due to sedimentation
accumulation.
     A 30-minute open house session begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by
a presentation and question-and-answer session.
