SD Gets New Campaign Finance Website

     RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota has a new website to
monitor money in state elections.
     Secretary of State Jason Gant says the site at
http://www.sdsos.gov will become live on Dec. 1. Once candidates
begin filing campaign finance reports on Feb. 1, the public will be
able to search by candidate, donor and more.
     Public access currently is limited to scanned images of paper
reports filed by candidates. With the new system, candidates and
donors will be able to report donations online, though they won't
be required to. Gant's staff will digitize paper reports.
     Gant says he paid for the $17,000 system through his office
budget.
