BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota State University has
announced a partnership with Bayer CropScience to improve wheat
varieties and improve wheat production.
The licensing agreement allows the German-based Bayer to access
a selection of SDSU's spring wheat germplasm. Financial details of
the non-exclusive agreement were not disclosed.
In a news release, College of Agricultural and Biological
Sciences dean Barry Dunn says the partnership will help SDSU
deliver new cereal grain for South Dakota and the region.
SDSU varieties typically occupy more than 70 percent of the
spring wheat varieties in the state and about 10 percent of the
overall spring wheat acres in North Dakota.
