HURON, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota bar owner accused of raping
girls and other crimes could stand to lose his alcohol license.
City leaders have scheduled a public hearing on Dec. 30 to
consider whether to recommend that the state Department of Revenue
revoke or suspend the license of Werner Fajardo.
The 34-year-old Sioux Falls man owns the El Cuervo bar in Huron.
He is charged with raping three girls, including a 12-year-old,
after plying them with drinks. He has not yet entered pleas, and
has asked for a public defender.
Huron City Attorney Gerry Kaufman says the city's hands are tied
as far as taking any immediate action because state law requires a
30-day notice for a hearing.
