SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota man has been sentenced
to three years in prison and three years on supervised release for
assaulting his ex-girlfriend with a vacuum cleaner.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 31-year-old Marques High Elk
of Eagle Butte pleaded guilty in August to assault with a dangerous
weapon.
Authorities say High Elk and his ex-girlfriend got into an
argument on April 16, and High Elk hit the woman in the head with
an upright vacuum cleaner. Johnson says the woman suffered cuts and
bruises to her head and a broken thumb.
