MILBANK, S.D. (AP) - The Northeast South Dakota Health Care
Foundation Board has unanimously voted to build a new $18 million
hospital in Milbank.
Board Chairman Jim Gesswein says the new hospital is needed
because the current one - built in 1969 - is too small.
Gesswein says the next step is identifying a construction site.
Three areas are being considered, but Gesswein would not identify
them.
The Milbank Area Hospital is in the final year of a ten year
partnership with Avera, and Gesswein says negotiations to extend
that relationship are underway.
He says a community-wide capital campaign will also be conducted
to help raise money for the project.
