SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota man accused of harboring
a fugitive has been sentenced in federal court.
A jury in October found 56-year-old William Stegmeier, of Tea,
guilty of concealing a person from arrest and providing a firearm
to a prohibited person.
Authorities say Stegmeier harbored Thomas Kelley, who failed to
appear at an August 2010 federal sentencing hearing, and provided
Kelley with a .357 revolver.
Kelley, who had been convicted on 22 separate federal tax and
related financial crimes, was apprehended in Wood Lake, Minn., in
December 2010.
U.S. District Judge Lawrence Piersol sentenced Stegmeier to 24
months in prison.
