Cities in Dakotas Ranked Among Coldest

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A new ranking shows that six of the
eight coldest cities in the country are in the Dakotas.
The ranking from the Daily Beast website used data from the 2009
winter.
According to the list, Grand Forks, N.D., is the second coldest
city in the country behind Anchorage, Alaska. Other Dakota cities
on the list are Bismarck and Fargo in North Dakota and Watertown,
Aberdeen and Sioux Falls in South Dakota.
Meteorologist John Martin with the National Weather Service in
Bismarck says he was surprised more North Dakota cities weren't on
the list. Bismarck ranked third on the list. But Martin says
Williston and Minot are often much colder.
Martin says anybody who can survive a Dakota winter deserves
bragging rights for the rest of their life.
