Teen Driving Task Force

FORT PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A new task force focusing on teen
driving safety held its first meeting last week.
Chairman Sen. Craig Tieszen says the 14-member group
plans to examine data on citations, crashes, injuries and
fatalities, review current laws impacting teen drivers and look at
ways to improve young driver safety.
The task force created by this year's Legislature is scheduled
to bring forward recommendations for the 2013 session.
Tieszen says he's not sure is if the group will address the
recommendation this week by the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration for states to ban the use of cell phones and text
messaging devices while driving. He says that may eventually come
up.
The group's next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 27.
