Brookings police are looking for a man they believe was involved in the
assault of a woman early Sunday morning.
Lieutenant Derrick Powers says they were called to the 100 block of
2nd St. S. at about 2:48 a.m. Police arrived to find a woman with a
large cut on her forehead.
There was a party going on and witnesses say the woman had been
hit several times by her boyfriend. The victim and others at the residence
also say another man put the woman in a headlock and slammed her
head into a window frame.
The 21-year-old Sioux Falls woman was taken by ambulance to the
emergency room for treatment.
The boyfriend, a 35-year-old Sioux Falls man, was arrested for two
counts of simple assault -- one for hitting the woman and another for
hitting a man who tried to stop him.
Powers says they have identified the man who injured the woman but
have not yet located him.
